A pyramid shaped evergreen tree, up to 40 meters tall.

Characteristics

Cedrus Atlantica produces deep amber viscous oils with a warm; comphoraceous top note and sweet tenacious woody-balsamic base note.

Method of extraction

Steam distillation.

General

It has a heavy wood aroma that provides an underlying strength when added to blends of essential oils.

Blends well with

Bergamot, Frankincense, Juniper, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Patchouli, Sweet Orange, Rosemary, and Ylang Ylang.

Indications

Mind & Spirit – The essential oil is warming, harmonizing and its calming and soothing actions benefit nervous tension and anxiety. For exhaustion, nervous tension, anger and other stress related conditions add to a bath or blend with other relaxation oils for massage.

Body – Main benefits to the body are for respiratory conditions due to Cedarwood’s expectorant properties (inhalation, vaporizer, and chest massage).

Skin & Hair – Its astringent properties on the skin are of greatest benefit to oily skin conditions (topical in base cream or compress). Helps to reduce symptoms of chronic conditions such as dermatitis and psoriasis. A good hair tonic - effective for improving the health of the scalp (scalp massage).
