Description

A wild growing plant with long slender stems and terminal flowering tops, the grassy leaves are very fragrant.

Characteristics

A sweet, floral slightly dry fragrance with a hint of rose.

Method of extraction

Steam or water distillation.

General

Also known as ‘Indian Geranium oil’ often used to adulterate the more expensive rose oil due to the its aroma being slightly sharper than rose oil and not unlike Geranium oil.

Blends well with

Bergamot, Geranium, Jasmine, Lavender, Lime, Sweet Orange, Rosewood, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang.

Indications

Mind & Spirit – Calming yet uplifting effect on emotions (Vaporizer).

Body – Considered a tonic to the digestive system, stimulates the appetite and may be helpful to people suffering from anorexia nervosa (massage). 

Skin & Hair – Palmarosa has a hydrating effect on the skin tissue and stimulates natural secretion of sebum. It is also used to stimulate cellular regeneration (blended in a base cream or oil, massage, compress).
